As this is a destination wedding in Taiwan during new years, we suggest booking your hotel and flights early. Below are some recommendations. (You can also book an Airbnb)
To keep the celebration intimate and personal, we’re only able to invite the guests in the guestlist. If your plus-one is invited, a separate invitation is sent to them.
While we love your little ones, attendance at the wedding will be adults-only, with the exception of children of family members. We truly appreciate your understanding.
Per venue and catering guidelines, we may have limited ability to accommodate specific dietary restrictions. However, there will be a vegetarian option available. Please indicate your meal preference in the RSVP.
Instead of a gift registry, we invite guests to participate in the Taiwanese tradition of Red Envelopes (紅包). Your presence truly means the most, and any contribution is warmly appreciated.
While the full wedding schedule will be revealed closer to the wedding date, we strongly encourage guests to arrive in Taipei in time for New Year’s Eve — it’s an iconic place to ring in the New Year, and we’re planning to organize something special so we can kick off the weekend together.
It depends on your passport. Most guests (USA, Canadian, EU, UK, and Australian passports) can enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 90 days. Some nationalities do need to apply for a visa in advance, so it’s best to double-check this website before booking flights.
We highly recommend taking the Taoyuan Airport MRT. It’s a high speed transit that takes you directly from the Airport to Taipei Main Station within 40 minutes, and costs about $5 USD. Alternatively there are also Taxis and Ubers you can take.
There are limited parking spaces at the venue. We will provide more details on transportation closer to the wedding date.
Yes! Hotels, restaurants, and MRT stations offer bilingual signage. Locals are friendly, and with Uber, Google Maps, and English menus in many places, navigating the city is easy.
For members of the Hickner family who can’t make the trip to Taiwan, we’re planning to host a casual gathering in Michigan at a later date so we can spend time together and mark the occasion.
